How We Use Dry Needling & Acupuncture
for Your Lasting Recovery
Dry needling and medical acupuncture are complementary, evidence-based needle therapies delivered 1-on-1 by our CIDN-certified physiotherapists and certified medical acupuncture practitioners across our Shelburne, Orangeville, and Tottenham clinics. Dry needling uses ultra-fine, sterile filament needles to precisely target hyperirritable myofascial trigger points—commonly known as 'muscle knots'—within tight muscular and connective tissues, resetting dysfunctional neuromuscular pathways and relieving deep-seated pain. Medical acupuncture inserts hair-thin needles into precisely identified neuro-anatomical points along nerve pathways to modulate the central nervous system, triggering the release of endorphins—the body's natural pain-relieving neurochemicals—while down-regulating pain signals, reducing inflammation, and boosting microcirculation. Both techniques are seamlessly combined with hands-on manual therapy and active rehabilitation to restore mobility, alleviate chronic stiffness, and accelerate your return to pain-free daily living and athletics.

Suction-based myofascial release
Cupping therapy is a time-tested manual technique in which specialized cups are placed on the skin to create a controlled suction that draws blood to the surface, releases deep fascial and myofascial adhesions, decompresses tight muscle fibers, and stimulates localized circulation. By lifting tissue rather than compressing it — as traditional massage does — cupping uniquely addresses restrictions in the fascia that can bind muscles and limit mobility. At RISE Physio, cupping is delivered 1-on-1 by our trained physiotherapists and massage therapists, often integrated with manual joint mobilization, dry needling, or acupuncture for a comprehensive treatment approach.
